Do you remember the first time that you thought, “Oh, I could support myself with this work?” Maybe it was when you were in massage school, or college, or even in a part time job in high school. Maybe it was in your 20s, while you were figuring out what you wanted to do with your life. Maybe you still wonder. But when it comes to work, we trust that our efforts are going to support us and we’re going to be alright.
The pandemic threw a big wrench in a lot of people’s plans, and it reminded me of a lot of other times in my life when I wasn’t sure if things would be okay. When I finished college and that high-paying job didn’t materialize. When I moved across the country with nothing but a car, credit cards and some great friends. When my dad was badly injured in a motorcycle accident. Some real rough breakups. But even when things weren’t okay at the moment, they ended up being okay. Sure, there were some new and unexpected tough times ahead, but that thing that I thought would be the end wasn’t. It was just a change.
And that’s one of the reasons why I created this company. It’s one less thing to worry about for my fellow massage therapists. One little thing to make something better, even when it’s kinda falling apart. Something to help you hold on a little longer, until the thing that you think might break you inevitably passes. Sure, you’ll change. But it’s going to be okay.
Also, shout out to Nora McInerny’s It’s Going to be OK podcast, which is a delight, especially if you’re in the throes of not being okay.
